Introduction to Hair + Beauty
From 4pm -7pm All children and young people taking part in the programme will work towards demonstrating their skills that they have learnt in hair + beauty in a presentation evening to family and friends. Each young person will receive a certificate confirming their successful completion of the programme. We are also able to support the children and young people into choices regarding further education in hair + beauty and or part-time employment. Introduction of Boome Team. • Course aims + objectives. • Salon orientation. • Health + Safety + Ground Rules. • Establish students expectations + future goals • Team ice breaker activities. • Introduction to expectations of salon conduct, professional presentation + customer service. • Introduction to shampoos and conditioner, what products to use on different hair types • Allocation of equipment and instructions on how to use + care for equipment. • Module overview • Preparing clients for shampoo demonstration, including customer service, equipment required. • Problem + problem solving activity when dealing with clients when shampooing. • Techniques for shampooing + head massage (models required). • Maintaining clients comfort. • Techniques for rough drying. • Introduction to styling and finishing. • Module overview Techniques for shampooing and head massage and rough drying continued (models required). • Techniques to blow-dry straight, including correct products + equipment (practical using block heads). • Introduction to colour techniques (practical activity using block heads) • ‘Which equipment to use on what hair’ activity • Mood board to explore style ideas. • Module overview Present mood board ideas from week 3 to group. • Introduction to setting hair • How to use heated equipment to create different styles • Dressing out sets to achieve the look you want. • Initial preparation and planning session for presentation in week 6 • Module overview
