Instrumental Lessons
Most young musicians at PCYM have lessons on their instrument at home or at school and come to PCYM for the Core Curriculum. However if there are not lessons at school or you want to learn an instrument and can’t find a teacher, we are able to provide 30min weekly lessons with our tutors should you wish. The cost of these lessons is £16 a week/£160 a term (again, Bursaries are available for those with financial need) . There may be a possibility of sharing a lesson with another student should you wish and thus reducing the cost. Lessons are timetables around teacher availability and whether the child takes part in other PCYM activities. We are able to organise a trial lesson with the teacher should you wish (for £16). To be arranged at a time between 8:30am-1pm

PCYM Core Curriculum
When a young musician has been learning an instrument for around 2 terms+ they will be invited to join an ensemble. PCYM focuses on chamber ensemble playing with smaller numbers of students in each class and placed according to ability rather than age. We currently have 8 ensembles including senior and junior sessions in strings, brass, woodwind and piano. We are also looking to start guitar and percussion ensembles in the near future. Musicianship We have 4 classes from beginner to senior which cover music theory, aural skills, harmony and composition. Where appropriate young musicians may work towards examinations or performances of their compositions. Singing Singing develops many key skills in a musician including aural skills, tuning/pitching, sight reading and ensemble awareness. Students at PCYM normally take part in one of three sessions (junior singing, senior singing or chamber choir). Performance Each week students have the opportunity to perform to the students, teachers and parents at PCYM in a sharing and non-judgemental environment. Students can perform in their ensemble or solo on any instrument they wish and playing any style. Students have access to our resident accompanist during this session should they wish. PCYM Students also take part in a programme of trips and performance opportunities including termly concerts and performances at prestigious events such as the Mayors Freedom of the City dinner.

PCYM: Music Starts Here!
Classes encourage children to explore the joy of making music. Through Ukulele or Recorder they will acquire simple skills and fine muscle control necessary to develop technical proficiency on an instrument. Singing, rhythm and movement teach an instinctive connection between what these young musicians do with their hands, voices, eyes, ears and intellect. This sense of connection is the crucial foundation for learning music. £5 per week, £50 per term Currently 9:25am-10:25am
