Activities at the Rotherham High Street Centre
Rotherham High Street Centre works with the Rotherham Children's University, delivering learning activities for children in the Rotherham area. ACTIVATE! works with children and young people within the Rawmarsh and Parkgate area of Rotherham. They offer a wide range of activities for 4-19 year-olds to encourage their participation in positive activities that aim to aid their personal and social development in a safe and inclusive environment. Key activities include: Young People’s Action Group , ‘OUTRAGEOUS’ Children’s Club, ‘Xplode’ Youth Club, Guitar Lessons for Beginners, Rock School. They also provide Attainment Clubs with local schools, offer activities for children with disabilities and set up Holiday Activities, Family Trips and Taster Sessions. Young people will develop confidence and the ability to take ownership and lead activities. Learners develop a variety of soft skills, are able to gain practical experience devising and delivering own self-directed activities and are given the opportunity to demonstrate and share technical skills with other learners. Formal certification is available in certain types of activities, e.g. music tuition. There is something happening most evenings during term time, with activities, events and trips during the holidays too.
