Hull Children's University
Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University is a registered charity. We are committed to building the confidence, self-esteem and aspirations of young people living in areas of high deprivation by providing a diverse range of unique and exciting experiences that take place outside the classroom.
All our learning experiences are designed to bring learning to life by engaging, inspiring, and educating young people. Whether it is a visit to a local business to learn about industry and the vast array of career opportunities available to them, or taking part in one of our larger trips such as visiting London for a day with a tour of Parliament; or to have a Kip on a Ship aboard HMS Belfast. All our children leave these experiences feeling happy, excited and with new aspirations to carry with them into adulthood. We motivate and inspire them to succeed in the future. In the 2017/18 academic year 6,467 primary school children from the most disadvantaged areas of Hull and East Yorkshire took part in a range of Children’s University experiences, bringing classroom learning to life.
We also run a Children in Care Programme that provides CIC children with the opportunity to take part in learning experiences during the holidays. We also run a one to one reading scheme called the Letter Box Club for children in years 3 to 7.
