Case Studies
Explore our case studies to see the lasting impact of our programme in action. These stories highlight the journeys of our alumni, from their early experiences with us to their achievements in adulthood, showcasing how Children’s University helps shape confidence, aspirations, and future success.
At the time, she describes herself as quite shy and unsure in new situations. But through a range of Children’s University activities, from hands-on industry days to celebrating achievements at graduations, Ellie gradually built her confidence and discovered a love of learning beyond the classroom.
Those experiences helped her develop important skills like teamwork, communication and problem solving, without even realising it at the time.
Fast forward to today, and Ellie is now working as a Digital Content Designer in local government, creating accessible online services that help people every day. She was also the first in her family to go to university and says her Children’s University journey played an important role in making that feel possible.

Shannon joined Sheffield Children’s University while at primary school and, like many children, saw it as a chance to have fun and try new activities with friends.
Through experiences including Breakfast Club, Tennis Club and performing in school plays, she gradually built confidence, communication skills and a curiosity to explore new enrichment opportunities.
Today, Shannon works as a Paralegal at Gleeson Homes while studying part-time towards her Masters qualification in Professional Legal Practice, with plans to qualify as a solicitor in 2026. Looking back, she believes her Children’s University experiences helped lay the foundations for the confidence, curiosity and determination that continue to support her today.
Shannon’s story is a powerful reminder that the small moments of discovery children experience through Children’s University can leave a lasting impact long into adulthood.
